Cooking vegies

Cooking our vegies

Back in term one some people from our class went and planted a row of cauliflower and a and a row of broccoli. They grew faster than we expected, probably because we gave them lots of sheep pellets, compost and good soil. We thought we'd better pick them before they flowered, so we got a sharp knife and cut them and ripped off the leaves.

Look at all those big cabbages and cauliflower heads.

Then we went to the kitchen to wash the food and we chopped the stalks, and leaves off and took them to the kitchen.  we

We chopped them up into little pieces.

We blanched them in boiling water. We put them into trays and poured cheese sauce over them. Yummy!

Then we cooked them 35 to 40 minutes in the oven

Looks as though it's pretty nice.

When we took them up to Room 8 everyone was waiting hungrily. It was a excellent and healthy lunch. We all enjoyed it.
 [Well, most of us did]
